I have been working a long time on this master degree in history. For one because I couldn’t decide what I wanted to write about ( that I would dread) and two, because what I decided to write about, due to its heavy content /though took a lot of time. I ended up choosing to put my two passions History and Dance together, The Absence of the Black Female Dancing Body I’m Ballet. from the simple fact that do to European ideals of race through their standard of beauty( white body structure, features and skin color) is women of color have to fit into that construct as much as possible. AND even if we do there can only be a few. Now that I have successfully finished this I feel the urge to do more, because of this misfortune it is not just happening in Ballet but in other dance styles, One being Pro dance teams. So I decided to create this blog. The goal is to show the unequal opportunity dancers of color STILL have when it comes to certain avenues of dance. More importantly, I want this to be a support for my sisters in dance who have strained their bodies altered their hair just to get one of these 3-4 spots they give to girls of color as opposed to the double digit numbers our white counterparts get! Testimonials, words of encouragement are all welcomed here... Please let’s get this campaign going and let them know we know what’s going on!
